L’Atelier du Temps Passé offers a wide range of frames to enhance your paintings. All frames are custom-made using conservation-quality materials. Whether classic or contemporary, our collections feature a very broad selection.
We provide French artisanal frames known as “mitered corners.” These are high-quality frames, cut and assembled from raw wood, then hand-finished uniquely. The base, in raw wood, is carved, gilded, or silvered and patinated. Each corner is carefully worked and polished to be fully integrated into the molding and become invisible. The mats are cut to create a delicate window around the subject.
The choice of frame depends on taste and budget, and the glass provided is museum-quality, anti-reflective, and offers UV protection.
Conservation Framing for Works on Paper
This term, translating the English expression “conservation framing,” refers to the methods, rules, techniques, and materials used to frame high-value works on paper—whether for artistic, historical, or sentimental value. The conservation framing service is designed to preserve your works on paper under the best possible conditions. Paper is inherently fragile, so graphic works must be adequately preserved and protected from the effects of time.
Our mission is to protect and ensure the longevity of framed works, maintaining a balance between conservation and display. In our workshop, we use mounting products and techniques suitable for conservation:
Acid-free, lignin-free, optical-brightener-free products with alkaline reserve
Acid-free, reversible adhesives
Anti-reflective and UV-protective glass (92% to 99%)
